Online clipboard alternatives: the current state of 30+ tools

Similarity lists mix active services with discontinued products, code editors, local-only utilities, and native sync apps. The category matters more than the ranking.

How this review was checked

We opened every domain named in the research brief and prioritized official product pages, help centers, and project documentation. We checked the current entry point, core workflow, retention claims, file support, and security language. When a site was unavailable or only historical material remained, we did not present old features as current.

A similarity ranking means two sites overlap in topic or audience. It does not measure absolute traffic and does not prove that either product still does the same job. This pass found redirects, shutdowns, and a domain that has moved into a completely different category.

Web clipboards closest to clipboard.im

cl1p.net is the classic choose-a-URL service. A clip is destroyed on read by default, retention can be changed, and accounts, API access, and a Pro tier extend the model. Clipboardify retrieves text by code and deletes it after retrieval. copy-paste.online combines same-IP retrieval, short codes, QR, file drops, command-line access, and an API.

CopyPaste.me pairs two devices with a QR or code, supports text, images, and files, and says transfers are end-to-end encrypted without cloud storage. ctxt.io is a rich-text pastebin with short expiries; paid links add custom names, passwords, origin-IP restriction, and deletion, while machine-readable variants and MCP address developer and agent workflows.

GoOnlineTools offers a six-digit PIN, QR retrieval, live sync, and a one-view self-destruct mode. Klipit keeps free clips for 24 hours, while files, passwords, read-only shares, and longer retention are Pro features. pasteplaintext.com only strips rich-text formatting locally; it overlaps in search intent but is not cross-device storage.

Chinese-language services: a familiar domain may now mean something else

netcut.cn now redirects to webnote.cc, and txtpad.cn displays a shutdown notice that sends users to WebNote. WebNote remains a named, no-login cloud note with passwords, read-only links, and configurable expiry. Its product explainer, use cases, FAQ, API page, and related tools also form the strongest content cluster in this group.

note.ms still redirects visitors to a randomly named editable page. getnote.top provides random and custom addresses and clearly warns that pages are publicly editable and unsuitable for private data. ykjtb.com uses a four-character code and QR for text, then destroys an item after 15 minutes without access.

jiantieban.cn currently stores clipboard entries in the browser, with clipboard listening and backup; it is a local clipboard manager rather than same-URL cloud handoff. notelive.cn could not be verified reliably from its official home page during this review, so its old listing should not be treated as a current product description.

Pastebins, code editors, and rich-text publishing share traffic—not the same job

Pastebin.com centers code and long-form text with titles, syntax formats, visibility, expiration, and an API. PrivateBin encrypts in the browser before upload and can be configured with burn-after-reading, passwords, Markdown, files, and QR. hastebin is known for a minimal, self-hostable server; 0bin belongs to the client-encrypted pastebin family, but public-instance availability and maintenance should be checked before use.

JustPaste.it emphasizes rich text, images, and embedded media. Codefile is a real-time collaborative code editor with syntax support across many languages. notepad-online.com is a multi-page browser notepad. paste.pics is oriented around screenshots and images. They can appear in the same similarity list without being online clipboards.

Sync clients and file transfer form the larger adjacent market

CrossPaste, Pushbullet, and KDE Connect are installed device-integration products. CrossPaste emphasizes encrypted, cross-platform clipboard sync; Pushbullet sends links, messages, and files to selected devices; KDE Connect also covers notifications, remote commands, media controls, and file browsing. The name Clipt is ambiguous in older lists; a current app with that name should not be treated as proof that the earlier OneLab cross-device tool continued.

Snapdrop, PairDrop, and LocalSend are closer to AirDrop substitutes. LocalSend is an open-source client across the major desktop and mobile platforms and works on a local network without internet access. PairDrop and Snapdrop use the browser to reduce setup. The right choice depends on installation, network proximity, and whether a recipient needs to collect the item later.

Two clear classification errors in older lists

l24.im is currently a Turkish link-shortening, branded-link, and marketing-analytics product, not an online clipboard. paste.pics serves screenshot and image sharing. Sending a reader to either under “best web clipboard” solves a different task.

A durable comparison should state the review date, current availability, account or installation requirement, where content is stored, whether the sender can delete it, and whether the link or short code is itself the credential. Lists without those boundaries age quickly.

SEO lessons worth borrowing

  • Keep the tool usable at the top, then explain the workflow without blocking the task
  • Build pages around real jobs: phone-to-PC text, QR handoff, temporary files, code, expiry, and safety
  • Publish limits, deletion semantics, password boundaries, and poor-fit scenarios instead of repeating “free, fast, secure”
  • Use stable localized URLs, genuinely translated body copy, FAQs, and contextual internal links
  • Add original comparisons and current-status checks rather than copying similarity lists into thin pages
